Sketch A Day 74

Hey guys, day two of reference based sketches. I'm enjoying this alot more. Still some stuff to work out if I were to have spent more time on it. Also sorry for the bad composition I didn't plan this out well so I had to cut off part of her leg. Oh well. Also I may not be posting anything for the next day or so. Not for any negative reasons just may not have access to a scanner.

Sketch A Day 73

Decidedto take a new approach with the Catch a Day. Used reference for this piece and will probably be doing so for awhile. Note I did NOT trace this I simply referenced the pose and proportions from a picture. I think doing this will take this blog back to basics and also help me produce better work for anyone who actually follows this. Sadly there are still issues. The model in the picture I referenced wore all black and was in bad lighting so I had a time making out details. The upper half came out alright, it's the right leg that bugs me. Oh well, live and learn. Might try the pose again tomorrow.

Another phone in. I had been doing the sketches the day before and then scanning them in that day. However, I got tired of that so I'm mixing things up. So far not so good lol. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Ah Heero Yuy. Anyone who grew up during the Toonami era will have fond memories of this show. Definitely nothing like it on tv at the time aimed at kids.

Well hello there. And who might this be you ask. Well, he's Billy Bounce, a young wanna be detective from the golden age of comics (i.e the 1940's and early 50's). Recently read about him on the public domain superhero wiki and was instantly in love the idea of the character. I hope to start a comic strip with him here soon. It'll rock so hard, you'll probably go blind!

Been rewatching Outlaw Star recently. Loved that show growing up and it still holds up pretty well. I may try and do a Twilight Suzuka piece next.

It has it's haters but this series has a soft spot in my heart. It was one of the first "scanlated" series I ever found out about way back in 2001-2002 (?) can't remember exactly when I found out about it. I remember I stumbled upon it at the recently deceased Toriyamaworld.com while looking up Dragonball Z stuff. Hope you enjoy.
